Hi I’m Kerstin, the founder of StartupBell. I help people start their business well.
I created StartupBell to accelerate your start up process. While you might get there by yourself eventually, I am here to get you there faster.
But before I tell you more about me, let me see if I can guess why you are here.
My guess is you have an idea. You are super motivated to bring your great idea to the world. You want to start your own business, because you think only you can do your idea justice.
But, you worry. There is so much you don’t know. What if it all goes wrong? Will people laugh at your attempts?
Some days you feel all geared up, ready to go and give it a try. You read some advice, and then some more and suddenly you find yourself going down that rabbit hole of start-up information, and you feel completely overwhelmed.
Why is there so much contradictory information?
Some advice seems so useful, until you try and put it into practice. And suddenly you realise you don’t even know where to start.
If this sounds anything like you, hurrah, you are in the right place.
I was in this exact spot 5 years ago and I can tell you where you need to start, if you want to build a great business.
Can I promise you that your business idea will become a wild success and that you will be a millionaire in two years?
Erm no, sorry. That would be completely unethical. Also it would be untrue. I cannot change the laws of nature (or business) and those laws state that your chances of failure are about 50/50 when you start out.
But what I can do is to give you and your business the best chance of survival by teaching you the things that really matter.
I am currently developing a course that will teach people like you what you should know, what you should do and most importantly WHY. I will teach you how to get started with very little money, but plenty of work. Work that you are perfectly capable of doing. Work that will pay off.
How do I know?
I have been there and done it.
7 years ago I was helping inventors bring their ideas to market. I was working for the NHS as an innovation manager and it was my job to protect the inventor’s intellectual property, create prototypes and find partners with existing channels to market.
5 years ago I decided to give my own idea a go.
My idea was brilliant (or so I thought). I threw myself head first into the business after reading two books on startups. What could go wrong?
Three years later I was broke. Financially, mentally and emotionally.
But as Henry Ford said: “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”
So I learnt, I experimented and practiced.
And slowly I managed to dig myself out of the hole I had created. Now I’m battle-bruised, but a whole lot wiser.
Other things you should know about me:
- I’m a scientist with a PhD. That means my brain likes to feed on evidence (not hearsay or hocus pocus).
- It also means I like to give credit to people far cleverer than me.
- I am most proud of having a granted patent, which officially makes me an inventor.
- I am very creative (not in an arty way but a problem solving one).
- I have four children, which means my life is just as busy as yours. If I can do it so can you.
StartupBell exists to give the advice I wish I had when I started up. I want to help you see clearly how you can position yourself and your business for success with very little money.
I am currently working on my first course, which will show you what you need to know.
Throughout the course, I will tell you what matters, what works and why. I will give you step-by-step instructions so you can build a solid foundation, create a long-term strategy and immediately turn that understanding into actions so you can see progress.
Send me an email if you want to know when I launch my course.
